Ayana Howard, Ohio State University
“Ayana Howard, Ph.D., Ph.D. She previously served as chair of the Georgia Institute of Technology’s Interactive Computing School. As Founder and Director of Human-Automation Systems Laboratory.
Her work includes higher education, Nasan Jet Proposal Laboratory and the private sector. Dr. Howard is the founder and president of the Board of Directors of the Georgia Tech Spin of Company, which develops mobile medical and educational products for children with special needs. Chiropractic products are based on Dr. Howard’s research.
Among the many awards, Forbes named Dr. Howard in the list of America’s Top 50 Women in Tech. In May 2021, the Association of Computerized Machinery Engineers created new ways to expand participation in computing, naming it ACM Athena Lecturer, recalling the fundamental contributions to the development of accessible human robotic systems and artificial intelligence.
Dr. Howard holds a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Southern California, and an MBA from Claremont University.
Ayah by Deir, Littlebitts (by Sphero)
“Ayah Badir is an entrepreneur, engineer and social activist. She is the creator of Little Beats, an electronic building that transformed STEM education for millions of children around the world. For more than a decade, Bedir’s work has focused on making everyone creative – adapting electronics and democratization, pioneering new learning styles through play, and rethinking the relationship between technology and innovation. Beder focuses on encouraging non-representative communities, especially girls, to make a difference tomorrow. She has won numerous awards in recognition of her work. Her inventions are housed in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art (MMA) and she owns more than a dozen patents.
Badr graduated from MIT Media Lab and Beirut American University. She is in Beirut, Lebanon, and lives and works in New York.
Kelly Chen, DCVC
“Kelly is a partner at DCVC, a state-of-the-art technology VC at $ 3 B AUM. She is an engineer at the heart, investing in a team to solve some of the world’s most complex problems through industry, automation, supply chain and sustainability. She has led investments in DCVC, Agility Robotics, Fulfil.ai, SafelyYou, SmarTex and Brimstone.
Kelly’s interest is always how to use boundaries quickly using data and optimization. From her previous work as a permanent revenue trader, she focused on building the best models, structures and sales teams to facilitate the outcome, from building a new product line for the International Investment Bank. Kelly received BS & MS and Wharton MBA from Columbia Engineering, where she was president of the Entrepreneurship Club. In her spare time, Kelly finds herself crossing the cold bay on her electric hydrofoil.
