Late last month, small traders from across the province gathered for a network event hosted by the Meta and Queens Chamber of Commerce in Long Island.
Participants gathered at Meyla Center Boulevard for lunch to hear from Meta’s Nicola Mendelsohn, VP of Global Business Group, about the company’s $ 50,000 investment in the NYC Small Biz: Open + Online program.
Meta currently employs more than 6,000 people in New York and has more than 500 vacancies in the city. In June, Meta announced the launch of the 2022 Black Vision program, supporting $ 650,000 for black artists, black designers, and small businesses owned by blacks.
“Small businesses are an important and vital part of our community,” Mendelson said. “Small businesses run by women have the potential to better rehabilitate our society. The round table setting has brought Queens businesses to great heights, and I am proud of the connections and opportunities for future businesses.
At the time of the outbreak, Meta distributed more than $ 6.5 million in COVOD-19 donations to small businesses in New York City and donated $ 100,000 directly to New York City. Meta was one of the founding members of the Queens Tech Council, which began in February 2021.
Mendelson was joined by Alvin Bowles, Vice President of Business Ecosystems and Sandra Altine, VP of Labor, Diversity, Fairness and Inclusion.
