ST. George –From women’s shelters to business owners, St. George’s woman’s dedication and desire to get out of the dark show that she will eventually lead to something bigger.
When Lecce Brunner found herself in an unimaginable situation, she was motivated to use the services of DOVE Center and Switch Point to change the lives of her and her children for the better. Determined not to return there, she chose to start her own business by showing her children how someone could rise from the ashes more than ever.
While living in Salt Lake City, Brunner said she decided to leave the poisonous and obscene relationship, which led her and her three children to a local women’s shelter. He told her that the shelter was full at the time and that the only option was to move them.
“I know my situation is not my fault, at least now I know it’s not my fault, but they are not my children, and they were dragged in,” Brunner said.
The Salt Lake Shelter connects to the DOVE Center in St. George, which provides space for Bruneier and her family. Brunner was paid $ 60 at the shelter to drive to St. George. Packed with the only items she could get in the car, Brunner, her three children, and her granddaughter’s dog went to St. George’s.
“We went out with a 24-hour notice,” Brunner said. “I came in and hugged my mother and said we were going to St. George’s and we disappeared.”
During some of her dark moments, Brunner said that she did not want to feel sorry for her and that she would not tell others about her situation. At the same time, she did not want to be criticized for doing what she could. We want others to know that there is hope, especially in the struggle with children.
Brunner said she had spent 30 days using DOVE Center services and had moved to Switch Point and would stay for the next three months. Change Point She was able to move her family to a low-income home, where she lived for about a year. Then she met her husband and they went to their own home. She soon became pregnant with her youngest daughter.
At the time, Brunner was a nurse’s assistant at a local company (CNA). A.D. In 2020, as the release date approached, she decided not to return to her current job after her daughter was born. Although many people think that the medical field is an airtight and bullet-proof operation, it is not always available to them. While the outbreak affected many businesses, Brunner was fired for failing to pay many CNAs and registered nurses (RNs).
“We all thought we were safe at work, but the epidemic showed that even the medical field was not good. You can’t go back to a world where you don’t know what’s going to happen and you’re at a low ebb. That’s why I started working for myselfSaid Brunner.
When she started her own successful CNA business, her husband initially decided to buy the cricket machine, which he considered unnecessary. When she got up most of the time to make sure her husband was right, she started her second job – Elby’s invention.
“I didn’t know most of the things that were done in the world. You can do cricket. It’s wild. The business has started completely.”
As her business grew, Brunner said she was able to travel more often. She sells special products made exclusively for “dog show people” and is present at many large dog shows throughout Utah. The dog world is a very lucrative place and dog parents love personalized details, such as dog names on a variety of items. The number one vendor at these shows is unique, she said, and it is difficult to find another place.
Together, Brunner said she and her mother made books and pictures so that they would not miss every race they knew. They started with car decks and stickers, then added Toto bags and T-shirts. Recently, tampons, epoxy and keychains have also been added.
“I never wanted to go back to where I was before. “I no longer want to depend on anyone. My children can’t go back to that. I struggled as hard as I could to get to where I am today and there was no turning back.
As a business owner, Brunner says she will never miss special occasions with her children. Her children enjoy the process as much as she does and love to help her create items and make their own items. Best class? They no longer need to live for a check or rely on anyone else.
Brunner said: “A lot of people know where I come from and say they never know because I’m such a generous person. “I am generous because I am in this dark place and it is very important to help others with what I have been able to overcome.”
Brunner said she would respond in many ways, such as donations to various charities. She is currently creating more items for couples who need money to buy an adoption. She also runs a Facebook group for a charity called Online. Money train. Members of this private group donate at least $ 1 per pool. At the end of each week, the wheel spins and the random winner wins the entire lottery.
We donate about $ 150 a week to someone who struggles, says Brunner.
For example, Brunner told a woman who had been giving for months that she could not give. When she learned the story a little bit, she decided to post the story anonymously to the group. The group donated a total of $ 200 to the woman.
“Nobody knows what anyone else is donating,” Brunner said. “So if you only have $ 1, don’t be embarrassed. And sometimes we really only have $ 1. That can change from $ 1 to $ 150, and sometimes that’s what people want.
Brunner says she constantly drives at Switchpoint and DOVE and remembers how far she has come in a short time. Although their lives seemed perfect on the outside, she said everyone had a struggle in their lives. In the end, it is a person’s choice to continue to struggle or to make a difference, and that person is himself.
“Don’t give up. That’s enough. Sometimes you don’t see yourself as good enough, but in the end, it’s everyone. Just like a car, you can’t drive back and wait to move forward. You will not go anywhere. So don’t stop, don’t look back, just move forward, ”Brunner said.
