When it comes to stylish but budget-friendly furniture, there is no other brand that has a better name than IKEA. This Swedish-based versatile Jugernut has more than 450 stores in 60 countries. If there is an IKEA store in the city that many of my friends visit, they will not miss the opportunity to buy it. I also know a couple of my inner-stylists who travel abroad for the sole purpose of purchase. But now that IKEA has finally arrived in the Philippines, they may not need them.

And they are not here to play. Covering 65,000 square meters, IKEA is the largest warehouse in the world, built by the Pace City Mall of Asia. It opened its doors to the public last November 25th.

But because we are still dealing with the epidemic, IKEA implements health and safety protocols. In this article we will share with you what to do, how to book a deposit and how to buy at IKEA Philippines – Passay.

What is covered in this guide?

No booking is required to visit IKEA starting January 10, 2022.

But only fully vaccinated guests are allowed. Bring your immunization card.

Before 2022, when the store just opened, they made no reservation, no purchase policy. But that is blocked.

IKEA Pasay City is located in. Asian Complex Mall, Next to the SMM Mall of Asia department store and between the MOA Arena and SMX Convention Center. All these buildings are connected to each other by bridges. The mall is located at the southern end of the EDSA complex.

If you are traveling by public transport, here’s how to get to IKEA.

  1. Make your way to any MRT station.
  2. Take the MRT to Taft Station. Get down there.
  3. Take a jeep or bus to the MOA.
  4. Drop off, land in front of the mall, near the MOA Globe.
  5. Enter the mall, take the scaffold to the second floor. Go left and go to the MOA Square entrance through the outdoor space.
  6. You will find IKEA entrance in MOA Square. You can’t miss it because of the big blue and yellow theme.

If you are driving, you may find parking spaces on the IKEA building itself or nearby buildings, all of which are interconnected. Parking should not be a problem as it is used for concerts and large events.

For a visual guide, we have a video version of this article here

We took two scooters to the fourth floor, where we were greeted by yellow-handed staff. Carrying Bags, where you store the items you want to buy. “Fractta” means “to carry” in Swedish.

It is good to know the basic layout of the rooms. IKEA has three main areas: the showroom (4th floor), the mall (3rd floor) and the self-contained furniture area (also on the 3rd floor).

Showroom, 4th floor

This is a great place to start, especially if you are looking for inspiration. Here you will find dozens of stylish rooms – bedrooms, kitchens, bathrooms, living rooms – all featuring IKEA products. If you like an item, check the label.

  • Yellow labeled products They are usually huge objects. If you would like to purchase a yellow tag item, contact a staff member to assist you with your purchase.
  • Products with RED tags Self-service furniture in the mall or on the third floor is a must-have item. For these, take a photo of the tag to use as a reference when it is time to collect the item.

Mall, 3rd floor

This location is immediately down the stairs. The first greeting is the corner where all the trolley carts stand and the wall with the products that cost less per 100 pcs. But what is inside you is a quick taste.

Think of it as a huge store that explodes with small items like kitchens, glassware, utensils, bathroom fixtures, bed sheets, pillows, toys, lamps – name it!

Near the mall. This is where you can pick up large items, such as drawers, cabinets, sofas, and bed frames. Just check the labels and get the item off the shelf.

Serving yourself! But if you need help, there are staff around you.

After the self-service environment of Check-out counters. If I’m not mistaken, about 30 counters are dragging the whole room. During my visit, the queue was very long but mostly because of the influx of newcomers.

IKEA Checkout counters

Note: If you are buying 10 or less items, you can queue to the express counters at the end of the section. Most consumers are not aware of this because they are too far away and large columns block the view. But there are 10 express counters in that corner.

Note: When you are in the store, make sure you do the following:

  1. Wear a face mask at all times.
  2. Check the actual physical distance.
  3. Clean your hands using an alcohol or alcohol-based cleanser.

IKEA has its own restaurant in the building. The most famous are the Swedish restaurant and the Swedish cafe.

  • Swedish restaurant IKEA offers a selection of Swedish meatballs (available in 8-, 12-, 16- and 20-piece options) along with broccoli and mashed potatoes. Other best sellers include roasted salmon leaves and chicken wings. For dessert, apple cake and cranberry chocolate almond cake. And you can order a drink, brewed coffee, hot black tea or their signature Nordic drink from alderberry, pear, lemon and strawberry.
  • Swedish Cafe It offers mostly coffee, tea, pastries and desserts. On the third floor, next to the stairs and at the entrance / exit. I think I also saw a soft ice cream machine in the area.
  • There is a bar immediately after checkout counters. It sells some items, such as chicken wings, hodog, empanadas, and ice cream.

If you plan to eat at the restaurant, bring your immunization card! Only fully vaccinated adults (18 years of age and older) are allowed to eat at the restaurant. Unvaccinated teens are only allowed with fully vaccinated adults.

Unfortunately, all of this has left us starving. With no extra energy to line up, we decided to stop eating here and eat somewhere else at the SM Mall of Asia. We’ll be back to IKEA another day to try Rest and Cafe. We will update this post later.

    Bistro Level 2 9:30 am – 6:30 p.m.

How long can I stay in IKEA Philippines?

    There is no time limit.

You can spend as much time as you want, until the closing time.

    Is walking allowed?

Yes. From January 10, 2022, no reservation is required.

Fully vaccinated walkways are allowed. Bring your immunization card.

How long is the waiting period?

Update (January 2022) ፡ Troubled queues are now too short and there are few.

The label below was our experience when we visited in December 2021.

According to our experience, we spent 30 minutes in line to enter the store. But it took us about 10-15 minutes to get to the entrance from the beginning of the line. The rest of the time we were just waiting for our scheduled arrival time. The queue moved quickly and was well organized.

The queue to the counter may be a different story, but it will take a long time to see, especially if there are many items in your cart. We had only less than 10 items on our freak bags, so we lined up to express counters. We only spent 35 minutes online.

Note that we visited on Opening Day, so the queues are naturally long. This may change in the next few days / weeks.

Are children allowed in IKEA Philippines?

Yes, according to their official website. We also saw many consumers with children.

Construction has been going on since its inception. It was originally scheduled to be completed by 2020, but there were delays due to the epidemic.

The IKEA online store was first launched in early November 2021, but the physical store was finally opened on November 25.
