If you missed last week’s “Alaska Resident” special, fear not: There’s a new crop that’s popped up in the past few days.

Exclusive products for Alaskans have been added. They’re perfectly positioned next to military discounts, AAA discounts, and other deals to prompt you to hit the “buy” button for your next adventure.

This is the first year in a long time that the Talkeetna Alaskan Lodge will be open in March, April and May. Early-season rates start at $159 per room. But between now and May 31st, Alaska residents can save 30% off room rates. Use discount code “AKRES30” when booking online.

In addition to the reduced rate for Alaskans, the lodge has a variety of special activities throughout the spring, including “Thursday Tasting” wine and snacks, board games on Friday nights and live music on Sundays.

Alaska Resort offers Alaska residents up to 30% off. I found the best rates midweek, the regular rate is $245 per night, plus tax and a 25 night resort fee. Applying the discount brings the base rate to $171.50 per night. Taxes and resort fee add a total of $45.58, for a total price of $217.08.

More Alaska Natives are taking a “spa day” at the resort’s new Nordic Spa. My kids love the pool. Or, there’s a big mountain for skiing right out the back door.

Next week, the first cruise ships of the season will begin calling at ports along the Inside Passage. The big ships get the headlines, but there are plenty of smaller ships exploring the miles of coastline in Southeast Alaska.

A few years ago, when the cruise season was canceled due to Covid-19 restrictions, the folks at John Hall Alaska came up with the idea of a “land cruise” that would combine overnight stays in Juneau and Sitka with visits to Glacier Bay. , Skagway and other popular locations in the region.

John Hall’s Alaska charter is one of Allen Marine’s fast catamarans that take travelers to the far reaches of Glacier Bay or to the famous Ice Strait Point as a cruise stop. Thrill seekers can experience Alaska’s longest zipline – over a mile long.

Allen Marine catamarans are designed specifically for wildlife and whale watching in Southeast Alaska. On your daily trips to see glaciers or wildlife, you can also spot lots of whales.

Dubbed the “Platinum Inside Passage,” it’s all-inclusive with meals, tours and accommodations at the Aspen Hotel in Sitka and Juneau. In addition to hotel accommodations and transportation on the chartered boat, the tour price includes admission to the “Sitka Raptor Center” and “Bear Fort” in Sitka. A trip to Mendenhall Glacier in Juneau is included with the Glacier Gardens tour.

The itinerary includes a day-trip to Skagway and a visit to the Onion Saloon.

A maximum of 40 travelers are allowed on the tour.

Standard price for a weeklong itinerary is $4,599 per person, based on double occupancy. Alaska residents can choose from two discounted cruises on July 15 or August 12, priced at $2,700 per person. Call 800-325-2270 to make a reservation. According to Hall’s website, all other summer departures are sold out. Airfare to Juneau or Sitka is not included.

In Palmer, the Mat-Su Convention and Visitors Bureau has an entire website dedicated to discounts for Alaska residents. Most of the deals have a 10% discount for local residents, but there are more discounts, including:

• 10% off Alaska helicopter tours.

• 10% off four wheeler tours to Knick Glacier with Alaska Backcountry Adventure Tours.

• 10% off gear rentals or guided tours from Paddle Sports at True North AK. Use discount code “Summer23”.

• 15% off Alpenglow Luxury Camping near Matanuska Glacier for “Glamping”.

• 10% discount on bed and breakfast options.

It’s going to be a busy summer here in Alaska. But sometimes plans change. Sometimes a ship doesn’t go or there are openings that need to be filled at the last minute. Are you a flexible flyer? A moment-to-moment traveler? Well, there may be a special travel deal in the future!
