Even for the most seasoned adventurers, traveling can be a daunting task. Between delays and cancellations, lost luggage, uncomfortable seats, loud neighbors and more, there are many things that make what should be a straightforward trip less than ideal. So when a product comes along that helps alleviate some of those travel pains, we’re interested.
Perilogix Universal In-Flight Insert Airplane Phone Mount. If you want to reach your destination by craning your neck and sitting at a 45 degree angle to watch a movie on your mobile phone, it is not an option without serious stiffness and pain. This small but effective phone mount serves as the perfect solution to in-flight entertainment viewing problems.
I tested the Perilogics phone mount on a recent flight, and it’s become a staple in my travel wardrobe — and more. Here’s why.
This versatile phone mount is the perfect addition to any travel packing list. It works with most devices and ultimately makes any flight experience more comfortable at eye level. At less than $15, this pocket-sized device is a must-have for any traveler.
I’ve flown a lot. As such, for many years, I was flying over 100,000 miles per year (minus the static plague years, of course). One issue I’ve always had: How can I watch my favorite downloaded movies and TV shows on my phone without having to worry about it?
Bringing your own entertainment is becoming increasingly important, especially as more and more airlines are phasing out reclining entertainment screens. While browsing through Amazon travel essentials, I stumbled upon the PeriLogix Universal In-flight Phone Mount, and I was impressed with the nearly 10,000 positive reviews. And, as it turns out, this small but powerful tool single-handedly solved a painful travel problem for me.
This easy-to-use seat phone case is a game changer for all budget travelers. It’s not just $13 on its own budget, but if you have something to watch on your phone that isn’t part of the in-flight entertainment system, everyone can use it. etc.).
First of all, it’s important to note that this phone installer can work with any mobile device, whether you’re an Apple lover, a Google fanatic, or anything in between. It worked with every Apple device I tested – including while in a phone case. The company claims it can accommodate any screen up to 6.7 inches – in other words, all Apple iPhone devices will be compatible.
Once you’ve secured your phone in the mount comes the fun part: getting it positioned properly for a better view. This thing changes – like a lot. The mount’s dual joints offer multi-directional 360-degree rotation, allowing it to fit into some amazing shapes. Ultimately, it’s finding the best way to position the mount for a superior horizontal viewing experience from your seat. And, as an added bonus, if you can arrange your phone in a way that allows it, you’ll still have access to your charging port to keep it fully charged for the entire length of your movie.
Once you’re ready to stabilize the mount, expand the clamp 1.5 inches and attach it to the seat unit in front of you. When I tried to use the device on a recent flight, I held it against the literature pocket above the tray table, and it worked perfectly. The enclosure itself is sealed with silicone, so it won’t move if you have to touch your screen or your plane hits a little bump. And, thanks to the silicone mat, the mount felt perfectly secure and capable of holding my iPhone 12 Pro Max for hours on end.
My one minor gripe with the device is that the clamp is quite difficult to extend and requires quite a bit of force to do so. For this reason, I recommend attaching the cradle to the seat in front of you when your phone is properly located and ready to stream so you don’t disturb your neighbor in the future. Let’s face it, no one wants to be that annoying passenger constantly banging the seat in front of them.
This travel game changer goes beyond helping to enhance the travel experience, and can fit in the palm of your hand. When you’re done using the device, fold it down to its compact size and store it in any travel bag or carry-on bag. On my flight, I found the device to be small during boarding when I got up and couldn’t find my bag for the overhead bin.
It wasn’t until I got home from my short weekend trip that I realized the number of other uses for the Perilogics phone mount. While it’s marketed mostly for use on airplanes and in transit, it’s also a great tool to use at home. Tired of keeping your phone in bed? Place it in its horizontal mode to sit flat on the bedside table. Want to see a recipe while you’re making dinner? Hold the mount securely on the kitchen floor. For less than $15, this kit helps make home life hands-free and convenient for more than just airplane use.
I love the Perilogics Phone Mount for its simple, effective design and ability to solve one of the biggest issues of comfort in flight. I will be bringing it on my upcoming summer trips and beyond.
