College Park, MD – No. 5 Maryland (3-2) heads to Albany, NY for the third time in history to play Albany (1-3) at Tom & Mary Casey Stadium at Bob Ford Field at noon. The game will be broadcast live on ESPN+.
Maryland is 3-2 at home on the season – no. 19 Richmond (15-4, Feb. 4) and then-No. 16 Syracuse (15-12, Feb. 18) and road wins—No. 4 Princeton (11-5, February 25). The Terps’ losses came at Loyola (12-7, Feb. 11) and at home to No. 2 Notre Dame (13-12 3OT, Mar. 4).
The Great Danes are 1-3 on the season. A 20-7 road loss at Syracuse opened their season and was followed by a tough 12-10 home loss to then-No. 2 Cornell. An 11-7 victory at Drexel on February 25th gave head coach Scott Marr his 200th career win. The Danes lost at home to UMass 9-6 on Tuesday.
Series History – Albany
- The Terps are 6-1 in the series against the Great Danes in 2016 alone. The two teams have met every year since except for 2020, when Maryland has played a Big Ten-only regular season schedule.
- Last season, top-ranked Maryland and Albany were forced into the Jones-Hill House due to inclement weather. The Terps jumped out early and took an 11-0 lead in the first quarter with a 24-6 victory. Logan Wisnauskas He led the team with two goals, six points and four assists. He was one of eight Terps with multi-goal games.
- Maryland last played in Albany in 2019. Maryland went on to win 14-9. The game was close at the end of the third, with the Terps holding an 8-6 lead, but a 6-3 fourth quarter sealed the victory for No. 7 Maryland. Jared Bernhardt (3g-5a) led all scorers with eight points and Louis Dubick also had a hat trick for the Terps.
- Albany’s only win in the series came in 2018 when the top-ranked Great Danes came to College Park to face second-ranked Maryland. The Terps led 6-3 at halftime and 10-6 late in the third quarter, but Albany scored five unanswered goals in the fourth to pull away to an 11-10 win. Connor Kelly led the Terps with five points with two goals and three assists.
- The first meeting in the series came in 2016 and saw the No. 6 Terps down No. 10 Great Dane, 10-7. Four players finished with two goals for Maryland, including a three-point performance from junior Matt Rambo and senior Brian Cole. Freshman forward Austin Henningsen dominated the X’s with a 16-20 night.

- High average Kyle Long He is working to improve his ranking on several Maryland career lists.
- The Springfield, Pa., native’s three-pointer against No. 2 Notre Dame gave him 129 for his career, moving him past C. Rennie Smith (1952-55) and into a tie for 30th with Pat O’Malley and Colin Heacock.

- Since John Tillman. In the year In 2011, when he took over the program, Maryland won 141 of the 158 games in which they scored 10 or more goals. 892 winning percentage.
- The Terps scored at least ten goals in 17 of 18 games in 2022, including the only single-digit scoring game in the NCAA Championship game, a 9-7 win over Cornell on May 30.
- Maryland is 3-1 in 2023 with 10+ wins over Richmond, Syracuse and Princeton. The 13-12 3OT loss at Notre Dame was the Terp’s first loss since the 2021 NCAA title game on May 31 when he scored 10+ goals.
- Mary 9, 2015 The last time Mary failed to score 10 or more goals, Maryland hosted Yale in the first round of the NCAA Tournament with an 8-7 victory. The Terps trailed 7-4 early in the fourth quarter, but four straight goals by Brian Cole, Joe Locascio, Matt Rambo and Henry West brought home the victory.
- Maryland is 106-14 (.883) when scoring at least 10 goals since 2015.
Holding opponents to single-digits
- Since Tillman took over the program in 2011, Maryland is 117-11. When allowing 9 goals or less, for a 914 winning percentage.
- After beating No. 19 Richmond 15-4 on Feb. 4 and holding No. 6 Preston to five goals in an 11-5 win over Terrapin on Feb. 25, Maryland is 2-0 in 2023 when holding opponents under 10 goals. .
- The last time the Terps allowed less than 10 goals and lost a game was in 2018. It was March 4, 2017 – a 5-4 loss to Notre Dame.
- The last time Maryland gave up fewer than 10 goals at home, Ohio State topped the Terps 9-6 in the semifinals at Sequoia Stadium, returning to its first year in the Big Ten Tournament.

Terps 98th men’s lacrosse season
- The Terps had a record of 874-279-4 (.757) in the 2023 season, dating back to the first varsity team in 1924 (a team was not fielded in 1944 and 1945 due to World War II). Maryland has finished with a record of .500 or better in all 97 seasons of its existence. The program reached the 800 win milestone on April 12, 2017 with an impressive 12-6 win on the road against Albany.
- Maryland finished the 2010s 134-42 for a .761 winning percentage, making it the winningest decade in Terrapin lacrosse history. Nine of those seasons have come under the leadership of a head coach. John Tillman.A 122-38 record and .763 winning percentage led Maryland.

Staff updates
- The Terrapins will welcome two new assistant coaches in 2023.
- Jake Bernhardt. He rejoined the staff on July 6, 2022 after five seasons at the University of Vermont working under Terp alum Chris Fifes. During his tenure, the Catamounts won the America East twice, made the first two NCAA Tournaments in program history and went 44-24. Bernhardt joined the Terrapins staff in 2014 as director of operations.
- Tim Obransky He joined the Terps in September 2022 as the team’s volunteer assistant coach. Before becoming a Terp, Obranski spent two years as the offensive coordinator and recruiting coordinator at Mercer University.
