Pinterest is taking a unique approach to Black History Month, with its new ‘Find Your Ways’ Black Travel Hub initiative, which aims to highlight Places with strong ties to black history also feature black-owned businesses.

Pinterest Black History Month 2023

As explained by Pinterest:

“Find Your Ways” was inspired by The Green Book, or “The Green Book” of Negro Motorists. The Green Book was a guidebook for black travelers during the Jim Crow era, listing hotels, boarding houses, taverns, restaurants, service stations, and other establishments that catered to black American patrons across the country.

The Black Travel Forum you can find here offers a wide variety of travel options with their stories from creators from America, Colombia, Jamaica, Brazil. And others all participate to present their city.

Alongside the inspiration in the app, it can be a great way to provide education, as well as for people to connect and support vibrant communities.

Pinterest also features Black-owned businesses on Pinterest TV, Inside, and is hosting a company-wide event to ‘help employees learn about Black history, present and future through the lens of Black Pin employees’.

As noted, it can be a great way to both spark important conversations and inspire new travel experiences, including more cultural awareness and education, along with a leisurely break.

Either way, it’s a fun addition to the festival, and it’s worth noting what kind of response the initiative generates and, as a result, encourages more travel.
