If you’re tired of winter and need something to look forward to this spring, then looking at how to update your wardrobe for next season might help. Here are three predictions based on Pinterest, TikTik, Vogue and my own opinion of what people are wearing.
The “preppy” style is strange, because the name has changed its meaning. You might think preppy with plaid shirts, argyle prints, neutral and muted colors, and other elements that resemble or reference classic school uniforms. In the year In 2023, Preppy will take on a new look. It is associated with bright colors, especially pink, yellow, blue and orange. The style can be dressed up or down. Short flowing dresses and skirts are staples for the former, and for the latter, brightly colored sweatpants and sweaters. I suspect we’ll see some ready-to-wear this spring as the style is slowly gaining popularity, creating a warm-weather aesthetic.
The next style I see getting some priority this spring is the so-called “mermaidcore.” As the name suggests, the motif is oceanic and takes inspiration from imaginary sea creatures. You can see shell and pearl jewelry, soft blue and green shades and wavy hair. The soft color palette is perfect for spring and I can see it lasting well into the summer.
Purchases of Centro knitting machines have increased as a relatively cheap and fast way to knit. So, I predict we’ll be seeing a lot of knit tops and cardigans. The interesting thing about such trends is that stores want to follow them by machine-making clothes that are ready to look handmade. Be careful when buying crutches from big retailers, though! There was a time when crochet was different from knitting because it was made only by hand and companies used unethical labor to sell it.
Only time will tell what will happen in the fashion world this spring, but what do you think will be popular when the weather warms up?
