Houghton, Mich – Michigan Tech senior Blake Patilla was named the CCHA Goaltender of the Week, announced Monday. Pitila earned the honor for the fourth time this season and the 11th time of his career.
Pietila went 1-0-1 last weekend at Ferris State with a 1.44 goals-against average and .941 save percentage, both tops among dual-start netminders in the CCHA. He made 48 saves on 51 shots, 6 of which came when the Huskies were shorthanded, and helped his team kill 9-for-9. On Friday, he went 1-0 for his 50th career shutout, extending his national streak to 6 and the school record to 16. He had 21 saves on Friday and 27 on Saturday in going 3-3. Pietila ranks nationally with 15 wins, fifth in minutes played, 10th in save percentage (.925), and 13th in goals against average (2.06).
Michigan Tech is ranked 13th in this week’s DCU/USCHO and USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine polls. The Huskies are 16-7-4 overall and 9-5-4 in the CCHA. 13th place is the highest ranking of the season and matches the previous season’s highest ranking.
