Cruise Planners has released its 2023 travel trend outlook

As the travel industry looks to continue its recovery in 2023, cruise planners have revealed the top travel trends for the coming year and what advisors are focusing on during the storm.

After forecasting a 15 percent increase in purchases through 2022, Cruise Planner executives said luxury travel is expected to grow 11 percent over the next four years from an estimated $945.6 billion in 2019.

The luxury cruise segment is driving growth, the main destinations are European river cruises, the Mediterranean, the Baltic Sea, Antarctica and Africa-Middle East-India.

“We know 2023 is the ‘year of travel,'” said Michelle Fee, CEO and founder of Cruise Planner.

“Luxury is at the top of the list and customers want to make memories and spare no expense to create them with the people they love,” Fee continued.

Other key cruise destinations are Alaska (up 32 percent of the pre-pandemic total), the Caribbean (up 12 percent) and Europe, which is seeing strong demand for 2023 departures, up 32 percent from 2019.

Other key travel industry trends include a focus on sustainability, increased domestic travel, growing remote work, multigenerational travel, personalization and wellness vacations, according to data from cruise planners.

In November, travel technology company Amadeus showcased new and dynamic developments in the travel industry, exploring the metaverse, new biometric opportunities, the ability to work from anywhere, travel light and more business networking opportunities.
