House Republicans will go full steam ahead with GOP control of the House over business dealings between President Biden and his son Hunter Biden in Ukraine and China, the incoming chairman of the House Oversight Committee said Sunday.
“We’re not investigating Hunter Biden, we’re investigating Joe Biden,” Rep. James Comer (R-ky) said on NBC News’ “Meet the Press.” Investigate Hunter Biden’s laptop.
“I think any American who has followed the political process of the last two administrations would agree. We need to know what is allowed and what is not allowed when it comes to foreign enemy interference among family members of the Presidents of the United States.
Comer called the Republican investigation into Hunter Biden’s laptop, first reported by The Post in October 2020, “not political.”
There are emails and text messages showing Hunter Biden complaining about having to spend too much money to keep his father. “I mean, that’s troubling because Hunter Biden’s only source of income was influence peddling from our enemies, China and Russia,” he said.
“So this is something we have to look into. This is not political. We want to know, was the president truthful when he said he had no knowledge or involvement in his family’s shady business dealings? We’ll go after that,” Comer added.
NBC News’ Chuck Todd asked the caucus if the hearings on Hunter Biden are viewed by Americans as a one-party exercise.
“With all due respect, Chuck, I disagree. I think only the media and hardcore Democrats see this as a partisan investigation,” Comer replied. The same moment Democrats released Donald Trump’s tariffs, they turned around a moment later and said, ‘Comer’s investigation into the Biden family’s sales is a retaliation hearing.’
While Democrats touted Trump’s tax returns as a bombshell, Rep. Adam Schiff said they were “overpromised and underdelivered.”
“Just last week, he said that releasing Trump’s tax returns would be a bombshell. I mean, there’s no bombshell. There’s nothing there. I’ve served on the bank board for over ten years, there’s been no developer paying a lot of federal income tax through rebates, tax credits and things like that.
The Post has revealed Hunter Biden’s network of business contacts in Ukraine and China in a series of reports dating back to October 2020.
The reports are based on emails and messages from a laptop Hunter Biden left at a Wilmington, Del., computer repair shop in April 2019.
The Post report was censored by several big tech companies, including Twitter.
But last month, Twitter’s new CEO Elon Musk began releasing internal company documents — the “Twitter Files” — that explain how a small group of top executives at the social media giant decided to censor the post’s sponsor.
Musk’s subsequent statement revealed how the FBI pressured officials at the company to remove “government propaganda” from the site and how Twitter officials cracked down on high-profile conservatives ahead of the 2020 presidential election.
Rep. Jim Jordan, chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, said Sunday that Republicans will look into the Post’s report on the role of government agencies in violating the First Amendment rights of Hunter Biden and other Americans.
Jordan (R-Ohio) said the disclosures from the “Twitter Files” would be part of Republican oversight.
“We have an obligation to go into these agencies and see how they’re armed to oppose the people they’re supposed to represent, how they’ve violated the First Amendment liberties of the American people. And we’re going to do that. We’re going to do it in a way that’s consistent with the Constitution, but we’re going to do it aggressively, we’re going to do it aggressively, because that’s our job,” Jordan said. He said in an interview on Fox News. Sunday.
“And the only way to stop that is to first expose every little thing. Now we’re learning something from Elon Musk and what we’ve seen going on between the government and these Big Tech agencies. We’re going to get into what’s going on in the FBI…so we’re going to get into all of that and tell the American people the truth.” We’ll make sure he gets it.
