It has been 14 years since Michael Strahan retired from the NFL after 15 years as a defensive end for the New York Giants. Since then, his professional career has not only taken off, he’s gone in many directions: He’s an analyst on Fox’s NFL Sunday pregame show (along with hosting “Thursday Night Football”), and for four years co-hosted “ Live! With Kelly and Michael” with Kelly Ripa and he is currently a Morning host for “Good Morning America.”
In the year In 2015, he also launched the Michael Strahan clothing collection, which he wears almost every day. “Everything in my line is designed for versatility,” he told CNN’s Underscored, adding that the modern fitness group’s crew neck sweater with a navy triangle is one of his new favorites. “All my tops can take me to meetings, social events and more. I love them.” It can often be found in the collection of straight leg black jeans, which can easily be mistaken for dress pants. “Our jeans have just the right amount of stretch,” he says — useful when sitting on a plane or in front of a camera for hours. (Or, you know, to skyrocket to the edge of space with a celestial origin.)
Now Strahan is also getting into the skincare game for the first time. On September 16, Michael Strahan launched the Daily Defense line (available at CVS), a five-product regimen based on the products he uses every day to prevent dry skin.
CNN Underscored caught up with Strahan, one of the busiest people in television, to find out about his favorite everyday essentials when he’s on the go.
Daily moisture
There are five products in the new Strahan skin care line: facial wash, shaving lotion, aftershave lotion, face and neck moisturizer and beard oil conditioner. He prefers to use them all as part of his daily routine, but if he’s on the go, at least he’ll keep them moisturised and leave the moisturizer infused with vitamin E and avocado oil. “It’s my secret tool for looking and feeling my best,” he says. “Especially during football season, it’s a very busy season.”
A tool for work and play
Because he often travels by plane, train or automobile, Strahan says he always has his iPad with him so he can watch content on the go. “I love my iPad,” he says. “Not only for work and to catch up on emails, but also to unplug and watch movies,” he added. “A lot of actors come to GMA to promote their movies, so I’m lucky to have auditions that they’ve seen before.”

Water bottle
“A good skin care routine is all about hydration,” says Strahan. “And nutrition, of course.” Make sure you get at least eight glasses of water with the portable 32-ounce stainless steel Hydro Flask. “I always drink a ton of water a day,” he said. “This helps me stay on track.”

Quality luggage
“GMA” and “Thursday Night Football” are both shot in NYC (where Strahan maintains a home base), but he’s still flying around the country for various morning show segments, for football games or to shoot commercials or other media appearances. “I’ve become a packing expert at this point,” he says, loving the durable Away bags. “Having a good quality bag is very important, given how much I travel from week to week.”

Meal replacement bar
Relaxed sit-down lunches aren’t something that can be penciled in every day, like Warwick Strahan. “My schedule is very challenging,” he said. “But it’s important to stay fueled. When I can’t sit down for lunch, I just eat a Quest bar. They are always in my bag because they are healthy. Sometimes it’s the way I get from meeting to meeting.”
Portable battery charger
No missed connections here. Strahan says he needs to stay connected for work, which means he never goes anywhere without a cell phone, laptop and AirPods charger. When he gets time off, he prefers to be comfortable and relaxed in athletic clothes. “This is definitely my favorite from the NFL line,” he says of the MSX by Michael Strahan sleeveless hoodie. “This is what I wear when I’m watching the games, at home, or breaking a sweat at the gym.”
