Google warns users to update Chrome quickly to avoid the risk of hacking

Google has advised its users to quickly install a security update on their Chrome browser as it finds itself vulnerable to a serious bug being exploited by hackers.

The tech giant has revealed that it is aware of reports of an exploit for ‘CVE-2022-3075’ in the wild, citing the vulnerability as “insufficient data validation in Mojo” as reported by an anonymous security researcher.

The company has announced a security patch release for Google Chrome users on Windows, Mac and Linux operating systems in the coming days/weeks.

“Access to bug details and links may remain restricted until most users are updated with a fix,” Google said in a security update.

“Also, if the bug is in a third-party library that other projects rely on in the same way but haven’t fixed yet, we’ll keep restrictions,” he added.

This is the sixth zero-day vulnerability that Chrome has experienced this year.

Chrome users should now restart the browser to activate the latest security update.

This latest update comes just a few days after Google released Chrome version 105 on August 30.

“We would like to thank all the security researchers who worked with us during the development cycle to prevent security bugs from reaching the stable channel,” the company said.
