It helps businesses across the region

Vermont Business Magazine It’s been over six months since the North East Kingdom Chamber of Commerce launched a Business Support Center to provide personalized advice to businesses in the region and the response to this enhanced service has been encouraging. More than 50 businesses and entities from all over the Northeast Kingdom have contacted the department for assistance as the organization continues to increase its workforce development and business support efforts in the tri-county region.

The Chamber has always worked with businesses to assist them in such matters, but the Chamber felt it was necessary to expand such assistance in light of the additional business guidance required during this recent economic downturn and the ongoing pandemic, NEK Chamber Director Darcy McCann said.

NEK Chamber Executive Director Darcy McCann has a sample of the businesses he has helped through the Business Assistance Center. BAC was established last year to address issues that hinder business success.

The Chamber of Commerce’s long-standing toll-free number, 800-639-6379, has been transferred to the Business Assistance Center to encourage more business people from around the region to reach out for more help. The Chamber of Commerce will add more posts to its new Facebook page, the North East Kingdom Business Forum, where news and updates on companies can be posted. The NEK Chamber is also a document verifier and provides Certificate of Origin services to member companies that export products.

“As a department, our main focus has always been to improve the economic situation of our region, and the business assistant center is a very practical way to help solve the many work-related issues that cross their desks of our business community,” he said. We want to be a strong advocate for addressing the concerns McCain faces.

The NEK Chamber is located in the Mathewson Hall building on the Linden Institute campus. Businesses wishing to contact the chamber for assistance may contact them at 802-626-5594/748-3678 or director@nekchamber.com. Companies do not need to be members of the Chamber to receive such assistance and there is no cost for the service.

“We may not be able to solve every issue that businesses face, but we do our best to help them achieve the best results possible and remove any obstacles to their success,” she says.

According to the director, the Chamber of Commerce will work in cooperation with local, regional and regional economic development agencies and bodies to better serve the business community and the economy of the state.
