Report: The Patriots will travel early to Miami to warm up before the Week 1 game

BOSTON — Typically, an NFL team flies to the city they are visiting the day before they play a game. The Patriots head to South Florida a little early.

According to NFL Network’s Mike Jardy and former Rhode Islander Yanni Kourakis, the Patriots will fly to Florida next Tuesday and give them a few days on the practice field to acclimate to the high temperatures before the Week 1 game. Dolphins Sunday, September 11.

The heat will be nothing new to the Patriots, who have experienced heat waves and droughts all summer in New England.

But Miami is always a tough place to play for the Patriots, regardless of the time of year. During Belichick’s tenure as head coach in New England, the Patriots went just 9-13 in Miami. That includes losses in four of the past five years and seven in the past nine years.
