9 openings to know about in the Fashion Mall at Keystone

INDIANAPOLIS – Foot traffic at traditional malls around the country has been steadily declining for years – even before the pandemic – and tenants, including major anchor stores, have closed their doors, leaving huge gaps in malls.

In a Forbes look at the future of malls, journalist Brian Snelling writes that even though malls are in a period of renaissance, that doesn’t mean consumers don’t find a purpose for malls. The real estate strategist writes that consumers still see a desire to go to the mall in the future, but malls “must continue to adapt to keep younger shoppers interested.”

Some malls, for example, like grocery and technology companies, have recently worked to evolve their needs and keep up with younger generations.

Although some malls have seen a drop in shoppers, a spokeswoman for Fashion Mall at Keystone, a Simon Property Group location, said they’ve seen nothing but growth over the past few years.

“We continue to see our buyers come back. They want to touch, try, buy. They want to feel, they want to see, and they want to physically buy. And we’ve seen not only that,” Danielle Parker, director of marketing and business development, told WRTV, continuing to roll out, you know, the last few years.

Inside the Fashion Mall on Keystone, a display shows Sweetgreen coming soon to the Fashion Cafe on Monday, August 22, 2022.

Fashion Mall, a shopping center known for its luxury and high-end brands, has added several new tenants in its East and West wings and “Fashion Cafe” in the past 6 months.

Inside the mall’s cafe, shoppers will find HoiTEA ToiTEA and Hard Truth Bar now open. Sweetgreen will soon be joining the cafe’s offerings in the next couple of weeks.

Hard Truth’s parent company, Big Woods, will open its restaurant in the cafe in the next two weeks, next to Shake Shack, which opened last year at Fashion Mall. Another futuristic dining option is Doc B Restaurant and Bar.

Recently opened shopping options include Levi’s, Nike, Gucci and Hammitt at Purse String. L’Occitane will open in the coming weeks, and Evave will open later this year.

“We’re really elevating those types of experiences and the brands here in Indianapolis want to see in the state of Indiana,” Parker said. “There’s no other experience like Fashion Mall.”

Parker said the fashion mall has continued to grow since it first opened.

“I would say Fashion Mall’s goal is to continue to be Indiana’s premier luxury shopping destination. With more than 100 brands, our goal as property owners is to elevate and bring the retail experiences you see within our walls. New experiences and restaurants to the building as well,” Parker said.
