To mark the occasion, LVMH will serve as sponsor of Harlem Fashion Row’s 15th annual fashion show at the beginning of NYFW in Harlem in September. To support a new generation of BIPOC designers, LVMH’s role is not only to provide resources to address the issue of diversity, but also to connect emerging BIPOC designers with brands within the LVMH group, such as Louis Vuitton, Tiffany & Co. , Christian Dior, Fendi and Sephora.

“This is the largest partnership we’ve had in North America and we couldn’t be more excited. Of course there’s a D&I element to this, but first and foremost it’s about celebrating Harlem’s incredible heritage, history, culture, art and creativity and bringing that out into the world. We want the world to innovate, it is our competitive advantage. In a press release, Anish Melwani, CEO of LVMH North America, said, “It is the future of each of our brands.

“Through this partnership, HFR and LVMH North America look forward to continuing their mission of giving individuals and organizations access to color for designers who help shape their future,” said Brandis Daniels, CEO and founder of HFR. “We’ve successfully introduced a wealth of diverse designers to a world-class fashion curriculum that includes invaluable tools and resources to grow their businesses, and we’ve taught Gen Z how they too can change fashion. Together, we’re empowering youth through high school to engage, empower the marginalized, especially HBCU students, in their fashion careers.” We have created an opportunity for them to participate.

For the Harlem Fashion Row show, three new designers will be showcasing their work for the runway show on September 6th. Clarence Root, Jonathan Hayden and Nicole Benefield are the designers chosen for the occasion.

“LVMH is committed to making a positive impact in our community and recognizing the future of Virgil Abloh and those who have helped to promote equity in the fashion industry and promote diversity in the fashion industry,” Smith said. It is critical that LVMH as an organization continues to develop talent of color internally, while increasing the relevance of our brands and products and ensuring a diverse consumer landscape. We see the collaboration with HFR as an excellent opportunity to simultaneously focus on values, culture, business and community, as these concepts are not mutually exclusive, but interrelated and mutually reinforcing.
