A Sioux Falls couple is starting a local vending machine company that specializes in high-tech machines.
Austin Kluber, owner of 605 Snacks, is starting the business with his wife Megan to better serve local customers.
The machines have features that can be customized for each space, including rack spacing, a diffusion system, an ultraviolet system that kills bacteria and a laser system that “guarantees that things don’t stick in the machine,” Kluber said.
The 605 snack machines are also connected via an app, so you’ll be notified when the vending machines are low and need to be refilled.
“We can sell any product you can imagine,” he added. “Because it has a lift system, it drops things like glass very slowly. We can also serve food in the machines because it is in the refrigerator. What makes us unique as a company is the technology.
And while high-tech vending machines make startups unique, so are local connections and connections. There are only a few local sales companies in town that are not affiliated with big companies like Coke or Pepsi.
“The key is service,” Kluber said. “We really want to work with businesses to make their employees or customers happy with vending machines. I think a lot of people are unhappy with their current vendors or see the need to put a machine in a new location.”
Klubers hopes to work with a variety of businesses, hospitals and schools as they begin to build their customer base and install vending machines.
“If there’s a machine in a school or a hospital, we want to donate some of the profits, maybe 10 percent, to the organization’s charity,” says Kluber.
