Q: When did you first meet Rudy? What was that experience like?
A: I first met Rudy when I was 11 years old.
Q As a deaf design student, what did Rudy tell you to keep pursuing your dreams?
A: Rudy told me that I could be a designer and that my hearing improved my sense of sight.
He also told me that if I were a designer, I should design for myself and what my point of view is, not just the latest trend.
Q: Rudy died in 1985. Why is it still relevant today?
A: Rudy is important because everywhere you look, you see his influence: bathing suits, tung, bold and less fearless colors.
Q: Are your designs influenced by Rudy?
A: Although my aesthetic is different from Rudy’s, it’s what Rudy wanted when he told me to be what I always wanted and aspired to be. I am here today because of mentors like Rudy..
Q: “You are what you decide to be” is the main theme of the scarf. what do you mean?
People want to put you in a box. If I don’t say I’m deaf first, they’ll be surprised when they ask me who I am. Only I can say how I express myself.
A: Rudy always believed in the human potential of everyone. When I was a kid, he valued my opinion on fashion and he valued all people in fashion and life. “

A: Rudy always believed that everyone is a person and their value as a person is defined by their energy, enthusiasm and most of all, their love.
