Madden NFL 23, the entry in the long-running football video game series, arrives on August 19 for the PlayStation, Xbox and PC platforms. Madden is an annual bestseller, with a steadily increasing player base.

Madden 23 is the first game in the series to begin after the death of its namesake John Madden in late 2021. The Hall of Fame coach and broadcaster will be honored on the cover of the new game. Madden last provided color commentary for the series in 2011.

Like last year’s Madden, Madden 23 features an improved AI and physics engine called Fieldsense on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. FieldSense affects every interaction on the field, from tackles and collisions along the line, to snaps and matchups between receivers and defenders.

The Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC versions won’t use Field Sense, but will benefit from quality-of-life changes to the game’s AI, animations, and playbooks.

Madden 23 release date and price

Madden 23 will be released on August 19th and you can pre-order it now. The PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S editions will retail for $70. PS4, Xbox One and PC editions cost $60. Players who purchased the Xbox One or PS4 editions can upgrade to the current-gen version for $10 after purchase.

How to get early access to Madden 23 with the All Madden Edition

A special digital version of Madden 23, called the All Madden Edition, is available for pre-order for $100 and includes dual rights to both the current and last-gen versions of the game.

All Madden Edition pre-orders include three days of early access, meaning you can start playing the game on August 16th rather than waiting for the official release date. The All Madden Edition includes 4,600 Madden Points to spend on customizing your avatar or ultimate team mode.

Are there other pre-order bonuses with Madden 23?

Customers who pre-order Madden 23 can get a few bonuses for pre-purchasing the game. Pre-orders for both the Standard and All Ultimate editions of the game include all Madden Gear to outfit your avatar, a Madden Strategy item for use in Ultimate Team mode, and two Ultimate Team players from your favorite NFL team.
