The Texas Tech Red Raiders will look to cap a seemingly successful season with a win over the Ole Miss Rebels in the 2022 Texas Bowl on Wednesday. The Red Raiders (7-5, 5-4 Big 12) ended the season on a three-game winning streak with a 52-48 overtime win at Oklahoma. Texas Tech beat the Sooners and Texas for the first time in program history in the same season. Ole Miss (8-4, 4-4 SEC) has lost three straight to close the season and will look to salvage something from a promising year that quickly went south.

Why Texas Tech might cover it.
The Red Raiders are 5-2 against the spread in their last seven this season and 7-5 ATS overall. They will be without senior running back Sarodoric Thompson and quarterback Donovan Smith and star defensive end Tyree Wilson. Still, the Red Raiders are challenged this season, facing six ranked teams. They beat Houston and Texas, and four of their five losses came in those matchups. Quarterback Tyler Shaw should be healthier than he has been this season, and he threw for 436 yards against Oklahoma. The senior averaged 7.7 yards a pass attempt.
The Red Raiders were excellent in the red zone, scoring on 92% of their trips (eighth in FBS), while Ole Miss opponents scored 91% of the time (114th). The team’s turnover woes aren’t likely to be too much against an Ole Miss squad that has 17 carries (T-69 in FBS). Tahj Brooks should fill in for Thompson, and the junior has 601 rushing yards and seven touchdowns.
