Once the go to place for those who want to be seen in 19Th century, it quickly became a place for the wealthy to enjoy themselves. All of this helped the equestrian industry become a big part of the town’s character. It can still be seen today.

Be sure to check out the Aiken Thoroughbred Racing Hall of Fame and Museum. It is one of the best places to visit in South Carolina if you want to learn about winning horses and the history of the area.

Oh yes, and in February, you can also catch the famous Battle of Aiken 1865 held annually to create the world.
