Back to 10 Cat Travel Accessories for the RV Lifestyle

The following ten things should be part of your RV lifestyle when you take your kitty on the road. All of these cat travel accessories should make your RV trip more enjoyable for you and your cat.

1. Cat carrier

When traveling with any pet, it is important to keep them safe while on the road. Not only will it keep them safe, but it will also keep you safer. When a panicked cat jumps onto your lap, it can be dangerous in more ways than one!

Keeping your cat in transit can ensure your pet is safely housed once you reach your destination. This way you can focus on setting up your campsite without having to worry about your kitty being trapped inside or locked out.

2. Portable cat tent

Another accessory that’s perfect for your RV lifestyle is a portable cat tent. A cat tent is a fenced sided enclosure that you can set up at the campsite to contain your kitty while still allowing them to enjoy the outdoors.

When traveling to new places, your cat can get lost and lost. This tent allows you to enjoy the outdoors but stay close to you.

3. Portable cat litter box

There is no way around this. When traveling with a cat, you need a kitty litter box!

This portable trash can zips up in any RV for easy travel. When you get to your next destination, you can simply unzip it to re-open it. Plus, it’s easy to put in and out to dispose of (responsibly) and clean as needed.

4. Cover the smell of cat litter

No matter what size your RV is, it’s still a relatively small, confined space. This means you’ll want a good odor-controlling cat litter to mask any bathroom unpleasantness from your furry friend.

It is best if your cat’s litter is a low dust type. This will help keep your RV clean and smelling fresh!

5. Cat harness and leash

Another great pet accessory for your next road trip is a cat harness and harness. Prevents your kitty from running away, allowing you to go outside safely.

It may take your cat a little getting used to it, but once you get the hang of it, this may become your favorite accessory. Some people even take their kitties on short walks!

6. Spilling food and water bowls

Another important item when traveling with your cat is a spill-proof food and water bowl. You don’t want to worry about your pet knocking over their food or water when you leave your RV.

Knowing that your cat has food and water throughout the day will put your mind at ease. That, and knowing spilled water isn’t sinking into your RV floor!

7. Air tight food storage container

When you are in nature, there are so many critters. From bugs to squirrels, there’s no shortage of critters that love to eat your cat’s food.

Keeping the food in an airtight container keeps it fresher for your cat and hides the smell for unwanted critters to track down.

8. Automatic laser cat toy

Say you want to go out for the day. Maybe you want to explore a new city or take a walk. What if your cat is bored?

A good solution to that problem is to get an automatic laser cat toy. It lights up periodically throughout the day to keep your cat happy for hours.

There are many types of automatic laser pointers. I like the hanger for your RV because it can be hung from the roof. If space in your RV is limited, the last thing you want is one more thing taking up valuable real estate on your floor, desk or table.

9. Travel indoor/outdoor cat house

Cats love to be in enclosed spaces. It makes them feel safe and secure. This is why getting a collapsible cat house can be a good idea.

I’ve included a multi-level one here, which will give your cat a better view of its surroundings. You can even add a cat den to it, which I think is great.

10. Cat window perch and crotch combo

Cats love to look outside. They watch wildlife and people and like to catch the sun’s rays when they can.

If you have room for it, your cat will love a window perch and a small scratching post.

Your cat can sleep near the window and scratch if necessary.

The good news is that the perch and post don’t take up much space. It attaches directly to the window with suction cups to keep it out of the way.
