It shouldn’t have come as a surprise when Bob Morehouse, the 42-year-old founder of the advertising and marketing agency Vermilion, decided to take a step back from the day and promote three of his longtime colleagues to the status of partner – today’s management of the company.
Such a transfer of operational control fits the organization that Morehouse has led for all those years. Vermilion, B Corp. A certified company, it has placed transparency, accountability and environmental consciousness at the forefront of its operations.
For his longtime, deeply involved role in Boulder, Morehouse will be inducted into the Boulder County Business Hall of Fame on September 15, 2022.
In the year In 1980, he founded a creative agency dedicated to helping clients stay in the community. Among its clients are Allegro Coffee, Via Mobility Services and the Boulder County Community Foundation. He has also worked on national accounts such as the Charles Stewart Mott Foundation, Wild Planet Foods, the MacArthur Foundation, and the Gill Foundation.
Morehouse provided free services to community nonprofits. He is a founding member of the Colorado Chapter of the American Institute of Graphic Arts and became an AIGA Fellow in 2007. He has volunteered with civic organizations such as Boulder County AIDS Project Board, Community Foundation Board, Colorado Chauqua Association Board. and was a Boulder Chamber Board Member and Co-Chair of the Community Affairs Council. He has received the Pacesetter to Business Award, the Chamber’s Business Person of the Year, the Open Door Fund Changemaker Award and the Boulder Rotary Service Above Self Award.
His company’s mission to “help make a difference for those who make a difference” is to expand his understanding of what an individual and a business should be.
After handing over day-to-day control of the agency to his new partners, Morehouse said in an interview with BizWest that he will continue to work with the company in a reduced role focusing on philanthropy and fighting climate change.
“What’s important to me is that the Vermilion culture and DNA continue,” Morehouse said.
The Hall of Fame induction luncheon will be at 11:30 a.m. Sept. 15 at the Embassy Suites Hilton Hotel, 2601 Canyon Blvd. In Boulder. Tickets are available for $65 for individual tickets or $520 for tables of eight.
In this Hall of Fame’s 30th year, six individuals or groups will be inducted.
