Heroes Fitness is expanding to a Central Street storefront.
Connor Griffin, founder of Heroes Fitness in Wellesley Square and personal trainer business, moved beyond his downstairs space at 98 Central St. to the upstairs front entrance between Lockhart Restaurant and Mini Luxe (formerly home to Dunkin’ Donuts).
“So we’ll have 2 full gyms,” Griffin says. “Now with the expansion we will have a full class program and open gym memberships as well as new trainers for personal training. We are planning a grand opening event on September 12/13.”
Jejes Coffeehouse is serving.
When JJ’s Coffeehouse opens its doors at 259 Washington St., at the end of next month, Wellesley will celebrate more than just what it’s gotten to.
The small coffee shop’s sister company, JJ’s Coffee Roasters in Sharon, earned two bronze medals at the Golden Bean, the world’s largest coffee roasting competition.
“We entered four categories (espresso, milk, filter and alternative milk) from three roasters: Jeju, Dokdo and Dohal,” said Dooz Lee, manager of JJ’s Coffeehouse. Dohl and Dokdo were awarded bronze in the espresso and milk categories, the backbone of any coffee shop.
JJ’s owner, Sunny Lee, started brewing coffee in South Korea 12 years ago and roasted for family and friends before opening the business in 2020 after coming to the US.
In researching the Wellesley area, JJ’s team tested two coffee shops in Wellesley and said it made the offering very different. “We realized that Wellesley needed a coffee shop that served specialty coffee,” Lee said.
While it’s a bit longer to wait for Jejes to open here, you can order the products online.
In addition to coffee, JJ’s also sells baked goods including cookies, scones and muffins, as well as a variety of cold and hot beverages. The business is primarily focused on take-out due to its small footprint and is open weekdays from 8 a.m. to noon.
“When we’re ready, we’ll add more dessert options that go well with the coffee and aren’t too sweet, so people can experience the true taste of coffee,” says Lee.
Charles River Regional Council held a meet and greet
Dozens of Charles River Regional Chamber members and guests converged on the Linden Square campus Thursday morning for, dare we say, a truly live networking event.
It was nice to catch up with some of our readers that we previously only knew via email or through comments on our website, as well as other readers who are curious about us. The report of Wellesley And Natick Report Sites.
Among the fields represented by people we met at the event were banking, fitness, publishing and home health care. Wives and husbands seemed to be just as into the fashion as we were.
