Working with local artisans

Longhong said that the main feature of the brand is that she works with artisans from all ethnic groups.

After studying art design in London and creating a fashion brand in 2017, Longhong and her team returned to their hometown to find inspiration from local jewelry. They toured local history museums, toured the streets, and found shops selling silverware.

“The locals are very warm-hearted. When one grandmother heard that we were looking for Yi-style jewelry, she hurried home and we brought her father’s jewelry to admire her,” Longhong recalled.

Longhong met eight artisans working with her studio. One of them was forced to return to his village from Shandong Province in eastern China to work as a construction worker.

Entering the international arena

With the help of local craftsmen, Longngong designs attract more attention overseas.

Long Hong Kong is not the only minority of Chinese designers on the world stage. Daour, a costume designer, has set up a research team to save, preserve and inherit the clothing of ethnic minorities in northern China.

Following the London Fashion Week, the French, Spanish and American fashion trends are now on the agenda of Long Hong Kong.
