Texas Tech University will host its inaugural Giving Day on August 16-17. This online, social media-driven philanthropic event is an opportunity for Red Raiders, fans and friends to fundraise for featured projects across the university.

“For the first time, Red Raiders can participate in a day of fundraising for projects that impact every part of campus and celebrate the impact the gifts have on students,” Texas Tech President Lawrence Shovanek said in a news release. .

With the theme “Rally Together”, the event will begin at 8 pm on August 16 and end at 4:03 pm on August 17. 32 hours and 3 minutes – or 1,923 minutes – marks the year Texas Tech was founded.

Day of Giving will feature 19 projects that will support students, scholarships and other initiatives during the 2022-23 school year. All 13 Texas Tech colleges and various areas of the university participate, including Texas Tech Athletics, the Texas Tech Alumni Association, the National Heritage Center and the Therapeutic Reading Center.

“Giving Day allows us to showcase some of the amazing work that has been done on this campus,” Byron Kennedy, vice president for university advancement, said in the release. “Each project provides an opportunity to make an impact for the Red Raider community. We encourage our community to find a project that is meaningful to them, get involved, donate, and share the message of the great work being done at Texas Tech.”

Texas Tech Day of Giving encourages alumni, faculty, staff, students and friends of the University to invest in the life of Texas Tech. On Giveaway Day, there will be an opportunity for quizzes and matching giveaways.
