NFL stars don’t have many options for making a fashion statement when they’re on the field. But when the time of the game is over, their strategy is more complicated.

And Tom Marchatelli is the tailor that hundreds of athletes go to to get the best fit for them.

The founder of Gentleman’s Playbook, Marchitelli has made thousands of custom suits for professional athletes, including 210 NFL players.

His eye-catching creations, such as Joe Burrough’s black-and-white leopard print suit he wore during last year’s Super Bowl, have kept him in high demand.

“I push the envelope because I know that my people have the character and the guts to pull out the loud noises, because I really believe that no matter how bold it is, it can be flipped when the print is properly prepared,” said Martitelli. ABC News

He started his tailoring career as a hedge fund accountant, but after catching the fashion bug, taught himself how to tailor clothes.

“I’ve always wanted to do custom clothing,” he said. “I just loved the process of seeing these sophisticated prints in these bright colors that I knew no one else was wearing.”

Finally, Marchatelli started creating his own clothes and showing them on social media. His work attracted the attention of many interested clients, including Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott.

The two met years ago and became regular customers. Marchatelli made a special suit for Prescott for the 2020 NFL Honors, which he called his favorite of the suits he’s made.

“Because of the color, how it was worn, because of the location – we were in Miami – everything was perfect,” Marchatelli said.

He says he works with a Los Angeles-area company to customize each garment with precision. Marchatelli also creates a Super Bowl outfit within 24 hours, adding that he meets with every client, including big-name athletes like Rob Gronkowski.

New York Giants linebacker Ben Bredesen said he was surprised by the recent cut he ordered from Marchatelli.

“I saw his logo in the locker room and it was all good,” Bredesen told ABC News. “I wanted something I could wear multiple times, for different events and obviously for games.”

Marchatelli says he’s already setting up quick comebacks in all finals.

“I have about 72 hours to execute every plan, because whoever wins this weekend, I’m going to start cooking ideas,” he said.
