Cunard today announced updated Covid-19 protocols and guidelines, revised pre-trip testing requirements, Cunard said in a press release.

Beginning Tuesday, September 6, 2022, pre-travel self-testing will change from “mandatory” to “highly recommended” for vaccinated guests on most holidays.

Only guests traveling on longer and more complex itineraries are required to undergo an observer or physical antigen or PCR test with a travel certificate prior to departure. These include several holidays of 16 nights or more and certain other cruises, the company said.

These new guidelines apply to Cunard itineraries from Southampton and all departure points except countries where government regulations and protocols may differ, including Canada and Australia.

Stur Mirmel, Carnival UK president, said:

These updated protocols reflect the environment around the world and while some key elements have been relaxed, our commitment to protecting the health and safety of all our guests, ships and the communities we visit is an ongoing and important focus.

“They also ensure that the simplicity of cruising remains at the forefront and that guests of all ages enjoy unrivaled on-board dining, entertainment and navigation options and unmatched levels of service at exceptional value for money.”
