After the county served notice last August that it no longer wanted to provide technical support services to the city of Sturgeon Bay, City Manager Josh VanLiechout agreed to a one-year extension that would keep the city on hold until the end of this year. Find a new supplier.

“Although the technical support contract with Bear County expires on December 31, 2022, the county currently provides technology services to the city’s protective services departments, including special protective-services-related software.

In response to the city’s request for proposals, VanLiechout said the only bid was from Heartland Business Systems (HBS) of Little Chute, which he called “a very reputable company.”

“Door County currently works with HBS and IS [information systems] The workers were happy to see the bid,” he said.

For the transition from the county to HBS, the company offered a five-step information technology workshop that included interviews with city staff to determine the city’s needs and goals. The city will have a designated, dedicated sales and engineering team to contact at HBS.
