Emilie Bode is bringing her eponymous label back to Paris at Men’s Fashion Week in January, after winning Menswear Designer of the Year for the second time in a row. WWD.

In the year Bode, who will be seven years at the helm of her classic print business in 2023, will make her brand’s high-fashion revamp in 2019 for her first Paris Spring/Summer 2020 runway show. In a grand, 16th arrondissement townhouse (a stark contrast to the brand’s previous intimate shows), Bode showed tailored embroidered coats, cropped shirts, belted jumpsuits, blazers, jersey pants and ballet slippers true to their roots.

Next year, Bode returns to Paris Fashion Week for her Fall 2020 runway, which features completely unique, quilted trucker jackets, faux fur-printed coats, and gold-embellished wellies. Once the pandemic hit, the designer turned her attention to growing her business locally, opening a flagship store in Los Angeles.

“Our growth was strong last year,” she told the newspaper. “Therefore, it is important to grow now as in the previous five years. So last year we focused on direct to consumers and next year we will be back in Paris.

Bode’s biggest consumer market is in North America, but on the wholesale side the brand does best in Europe and the UK, she added, adding that “everyone has Paris for the event.” “And when we had such good success with virtual appointments, we felt it was important to show it again.”

Bode confirmed that she will be able to do a retail activation at New York Fashion Week in February, although she has no plans to repeat the Paris show elsewhere.

In more fashion news, Marni is holding its FW23 show in Tokyo this February.
