A string of business robberies in Lawrenceville under investigation

Police say five businesses were either broken into or attempted to break into on Butler Street in Lawrenceville between Saturday and Sunday night.

Three businesses had their front doors smashed. Two of those businesses saw their cash registers emptied and the other cash register stolen, police said.

One of those businesses was Alchemy Dry Cut Lounge, which caught the suspect on surveillance video.

“I feel lucky,” says Heather Johnson of Alchemy Dry Cut Lounge. “It’s a risk you take when you own a business. There’s always the possibility of theft. That’s why we have camera surveillance.”

A business was broken into and a safe was ransacked, but nothing appears to have been lost, police said. Investigators say a last entry to the business was broken into, but no one got inside.

Police said authorities are contacting all key holders of the businesses and collecting video from the area.

After the police said. A man committed half a dozen burglaries and robberies Last week in the Walnut Street business district. Police have not said if the two are related.
