Orlando International Airport will reopen as tourists continue to flock to Central Florida. New 300-acre expansion.
The new terminal, which opened on September 25, is expected to handle up to 12 million passengers annually, reducing flight disruptions.
Terminal C has been under construction for 5 years and will include several high-tech upgrades to make travel to the Sunshine State easier.
In addition to TSA automated screening and more than 1,000 flight information screens, the terminal will implement a facial recognition system for streamlined arrivals and departures.
As more people start traveling post-Covid, these high-tech features will become even more important. In the year By 2022, the busiest airport will receive 47 million passengers, up from 50.6 million in 2019. The terminal currently hosts Aer Lingus, Emirates, British Airways, Lufthansa and JetBlue airlines.
The large terminal has a bright, sunny Floridian theme that creates an immersive experience for visitors. Large LED screens display the tropical landscapes that Florida is known for. Visitors can browse 33 retail shops and restaurants before departure.
Security and bag collection for international travelers are getting an upgrade at Baggage First Zone. This streamlined process allows travelers to collect their bags before speaking with a US border agent.
International travelers save time by not collecting checked baggage at customs, rechecking it, and then reclaiming it at the main terminal.
Terminal C continues to make travel easier by providing better connections to popular Central Florida destinations. The terminal currently connects to SunRail and BrightLine, and a third line connecting to International Drive may be added in the future.
