FARGO (KFGO) – Winter weather affecting a large part of the upper Midwest is starting to affect travel. Much of the region is under a tornado warning until noon Thursday.
Interstate-29 is closed in both directions from Fago to Sioux Falls. I-94 eastbound is closed between Fargo and Bismarck. Westbound I-94 from Jamestown to Bismarck will reopen at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, but eastbound I-94 from Bismarck to Fargo and westbound I-94 from Fargo to Jamestown are closed. 19th Avenue North in Fargo was involved in a multi-vehicle crash around 8:00 am Thursday morning, and was closed shortly thereafter. The Minnesota Highway Department pulled a plow off the road in Clay County at 8:30 a.m. Thursday due to poor visibility.
Cass County Sheriff Jesse Jahner said deputies had to call in plow trucks to rescue several drivers who were trapped overnight.
No travel advisories are in effect for most of south-central and southeastern North Dakota, the eastern half of South Dakota, and southwestern Minnesota.
